In 76 I’d finished up my Active Duty contract a year earlier and was getting close to finishing up my Active Reserves contract (1977). It was the Bi-Centennial and all of the PO drop off boxes and fire hydrants were painted red/white/blue. A Georgia Peanut Farmer was running for President – and it was first election I was old enough to vote in – as I was only 17 (although in the Military) for the 72 election.
