The Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs (PDMP) – initially proposed to curb prescription drug abuse – makes it easier for state and federal government agents to spy on whose taking what pills.
What’s of even greater concern is that the Obama administration went on record encouraging states to develop a PDMP and share the information with other states.
All states now have fully operational PDMPs that have the capacity to receive and distribute controlled substance prescription information to authorized users.
These massive databases include patients’ names, addresses, dates of birth, along with the name, strength and quantity of each covered prescription – a very big list of medically sensitive information.
What the government plans to do with all this information is anyone’s guess. But beyond simple data mining, what is of great concern is the outright bans they have already placed on your ability to make money and live your life.
